What are Ley Lines?
Ley lines may be defined as lines of energy running over-ground in straight lines, often reflected in the paths of ancient trackways and subsequently Roman roads, and in alignments of prehistoric and historic sacred sites in the landscape. In modern times they were first described by Alfred Watkins in his 1925 book ‘The Old Straight Track’.
The name “ley lines” is used today to refer to all sorts of energy lines; in southern England, it is often used to indicate the connection between one monolith and the next. This is because the name originally came from a series of English communities whose names ended in -leigh or -ley (which is Old English for “clearing”).
The term “ley lines” (“holy lines” or “dragon lines”) is usually used today to indicate a configuration or connection of landmarks such as megaliths, prehistoric cult sites, or church structures. Some maintain that “ley lines” is another term for the earth’s radiation, but that radiation is composed of three geomantic grids ( by the research Rico Paganini) of and not wave lines.
In ancient cultures, the sacred places were vital centers of life and they are located along the ley lines and on their intersections. They form an energetic network that channels and revitalizes the flow of global life and consciousness.
The most famous Ley in Britain is the ‘Michael and Mary’ line, which runs across England from Hopton in Norfolk to St. Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, and thence right around the globe. Aligned to Beltane and Lughnasadh / Lammas sunrise, this was first rediscovered by Jean Richer and John Michell and subsequently described in more detail by Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst in “The Sun and the Serpent” (1989).
Twin underground telluric currents, known as the Michael and Mary lines after the number of churches dedicated to either Mary or St. Michael to be found along them, weave around the central overground mid-line. This reveals the primal ‘Caduceus’ pattern that can be found within all true Leys: a triple-fold axis composed of masculine, feminine, and spirit currents, which may be experienced by the practising Geomancer as containing information in the thinking, feeling and spirit realms respectively.
THE LEY LINES GRID
I thought that the work of Rico Paganini on that subject was very interesting:
The Ley lines grid is 5 elemental energy waves that flow around the earth immediately below and above the earth's surface. They correspond to a sine wave each, which makes a rotation around the earth and swings once upward and once downward. The Ley lines, or more precisely earth energy currents, rotate like the electromagnetic lines around their axis and have a diameter of about 100 km (earth circumference for comparison about 40'000 km). In the 5 Ley lines flows the energy stream, which energetically animates and supplies the plant, animal, and human world and is influenced by the magnetic field. In the few world maps, in which the scientifically almost unexplored Ley lines are represented, only 1 or 2 world-encompassing curve lines are found, which is then only partly true and does not let us recognize the connections. As we will see shortly, it is true only with 5 Ley lines and only then arise from it the geometrical earth grids.
The Ley Grid From the connections of the intersections of the 5 Ley waves arise the Ley grids :
There is twelve connection point on earth for those 5 waves line that are:
1 GIZA, Egypt
2 ACOR, Azores, Portugal
3 SHASTA, USA
4 NAUTILIUS, Hawaii USA (under sea level)
5 XIAN, China
6 ULURU, Australia
7 NINOGI, Mauritius (under sea level)
8 WORAMO, South Africa (under sea level)
9 VUGE, Chile (under sea level)
10 MEGIMI, French Polynesia
11 SOUTHPOLE
12 NORTHPOLE
We can conclude the word Ley lines is used to refer to a lot of different kinds of energy lines on a smaller scale and a Ley line grid exists on a planetary level.
The history of ley lines is deeply interwoven with human civilization's evolution and spiritual beliefs. Ancient cultures across the globe, with their profound reverence for the natural world, recognized and harnessed the spiritual energy inherent in ley lines. These energy paths or "dragon lines," are believed to be conduits of vital life force.
In medieval Europe, ley lines were often associated with pilgrimage routes, linking sacred sites and facilitating spiritual journeys.
Through the ages, these energy pathways have left an indelible mark on our world's history, shaping the belief systems, sacred architecture, and spiritual practices of diverse civilizations.
